My very own DNF – please watch entirely and read the description

Warm up lap after the track was closed due to another crash… Massive oil spill at the brake zone of Klostertalkurve/Steilstrecke. Four cars crashed, three of them totaled, including my GT86. I was braking earlier than usual due to the car in front of me, after the bump I had no chance of stabilizing the car and continue braking. I opted not to hit the left, metal barrier and continued braking, therefore beginning to slide.

After my impact, I tried to move the car into the safe zone – no chance. Removed the safety belt, watched out for traffic before getting out… saw what was coming and stayed in the car.

Please
– make sure your car is safe and in good condition before driving the Ring
– wear a helmet, especially if your car is caged
– do not park in front of accidents
– if you do crash: make a smart decision – if it’s safe: leave the car and get BEHIND the barrier!
– if you suspect any oil or coolant spill stop your car IMMEDIATELY, get off the tarmac and call 0800 0302 112 (Nürburgring emergency line). You may need to pay a few Euros to get towed – but if you don’t you may cause SERIOUS injuries to people who love the Ring like you do.

Thanks to everyone who helped at the scene or after. No one was seriously injured, equipment can (and will be) be replaced.
